STORM Players Receive Postseason Accolades!

Five Storm players recently were nominated and participated in the Select 15 tryout process held to pick some of the state's top 1993 birth year players. The top 272 players play in a festival and if they make the cut to 102 players, they then go to a tryout camp in Saint Cloud and, if they make it past a final cut they will go to the USA Hockey National Training Development Program (Ann Arbor, Michigan) to play the top 1993's from around the country. Dominic Burg, Wes Iverson, Conor Andrle, Chico Hardacker, and Luke Norgarrd participated in the first round with Andrle and Hardacker advancing to Saint Cloud. Congrats and good luck!

Three players were nominated to participate in the Preview Challenge Cup, a tournament run to showcase the top Bantam B's in the state. Nick Omodt played for the 1st Year South Bantam B squad with Mack Saunders and Anders Jecha playing on the 2nd Year South Bantam B squad. Omodt was named 'All Tournament' defensemen and Jecha received two game MVP awards for his goaltending. Jecha has also been asked to play in the 1994 Birth Year Prospects Tournament (May 23-25th) in Toronto, a tournament showcasing North America's top 1994 born players.

Squirt C Orange Take District 1 Festival Championship!!!

It's playoff time again and the Squirt C Orange team won the District Championship! After an overtime win over our Squirt C purple team in the first round, 5-4, the team went on to take down Highland Blue, 3-2, and Highland Red 2-0 in the Championship game! Congrats to the squad! The team is coached by Dale Peterson, Jay Broderson, William Graves, and Russ Stark.

U10-Bs Storm to Second in Bloomington!!!

The Storm U10B team took second place in the 12 team Bloomington U10 tournament on February 7 – 10. The team tied Eden Prairie 3-3 and Lakeville South 2-2 to advance to the Champion Brackett. In game one of the Championship round they defeated Burnsville 3-0. The next day they faced North Wright County, which had shut out its three previous opponents while scoring 16 goals themselves. The Storm scored first and never looked back, winning 4-3. In the title game they faced their league rival Richfield. After the Storm took a 2-0 lead Richfield fought back to tie the game and scored the game winner with 53 seconds in regulation while on the power play. Final score, Richfield 3 – Storm 2. Congrats to this first year team in the Minneapolis Park program. The team is coached by Amy Black, Tony Etienne, Paul Riester and Dave Van der Heide

Bantam B2's STORM D3 tourney!

The Bantam B2 team ended their season strong this week. They started in the District 3 tourney seeded 7th. They won their first game against Osseo (3-1), lost to 1st seeded Maple Grove Black 0-2, and then came back and won a game against Armstrong / Cooper 5-2. Next came a big game and a big win over 3rd seeded Wayzata White 3-2! That put back the team on track for a rematch with Maple Grove Black which ended in a 1-4 loss. Congratulations to the Bantam B2's on a strong finish in District 3 this season!

Peewee C Team Consolation Champs @ Andover

The Peewee C team had three edge-of-your-seat games at their tournament in Andover. The first game against some big, physical players from Andover ended in a 1-1 tie and a loss in overtime. The Storm went on to win their second game against Wayzata 3-2 with Jake scoring in the the last 26 seconds of the game. The consolation game was another tight one, ending in a 3-3 tie. After a short overtime and shootout (Evan stopped all of their shots and Johnny and Jesse got their pucks into the net) the Storm won the game 4-3 and also the consolation championship! Congratulations PWCs!

STORM Come Up Empty Handed at Regions

In a first for our program, we sent our Bantam A and B1 & Peewee A and B1 teams to the Minnesota State Regional Tournaments. All of the teams represented the STORM well and the Bantam B1s and Peewee As made it the finals to go to state.

The Bantam B1s, in their quest to win the Region did knock out the #3 ranked team in the state, Burnsville. The latest Let's Play Hockey rankings place the Bantam B1s at #14 in the state. Nice job STORM!

Squirt As Take 2nd Place at Wings of Spring

Congratulations to the Squirt A team for taking 2nd place in the WAHA tournament last weekend! It was a nailbiter to the end as the game was scoreless after 3 periods and an overtime. The Storm eventually lost 1-2 in the shootout.

Storm Squirt B Captures 3rd Place in District 3 Final

Once again, the Squirt B Storm kept spectators on the edge of their seat throughout a thrilling 3 periods of hockey. Battling Wayzata White and down by one, the Storm pulled the goalie tied it up with 20 seconds left on the clock. The team then "sealed the deal" 29 seconds into overtime, winning with a score of 3-2! Congratulations Storm!
